Our Take

A classic Tissot Seastar from one of Switzerland’s best-known brands. With a stainless-steel case and gold coloured bezel – dial, hands and crown, it manages to pull off a retro style without being overstated. It has a precise Tissot quartz movement, which works perfectly and keeps good time, all encased under a mineral crystal which clearly shows the stick markers and the date, located at 3 O’clock. The watch is in really good condition for its age, and the brand-new leather strap with gold buckle adds to the overall style and is unblemished. A stainless case back, stamped B986/996 completes the watch, and measuring around 32mm in diameter and 40mm from lug to lug, traditionally a men’s watch but with today’s sizes can work for a lady as well. The watch comes without original box and papers but will have a gift box to accompany it. It has not been pressure sealed, so please do not use it near water.

About Tissot

“Innovators by tradition” has been the phrase behind Tissot since the founding of the company in 1853. As proof of that, they’ve been responsible for: first mass-produced pocket watch, first pocket watch with dual time zones, first to make watches from plastic (Idea 2001), rock (RockWatch), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch) and wood.

Also introduced the ‘T-Touch’ technology in 1999, which have touch-sensitive sapphire crystals to control functions.

They now work with a number of organising sporting bodies to develop ever-more accurate timing solutions, whether that’s cycling, motorcycling, fencing or hockey. Notable wearers include Grace Kelly,
James Stewart and Nelson Mandela.
