Our Take

The iconic Wood Watch from Tissot, now this is something unique. Minimalist design at its best from the 1980s, this classic piece is just as classy today as it was back then! Its quartz movement keeps perfect time as you would expect from a Swiss watch. The wooden case measures 38mm in diameter and 38mm from lug to lug, which was pretty big for the time and today would suit both a lady and a man. The dial is also made from wood with a unique grain that will only be found in this watch, its clean with the logo in the centre, and then just the gold hour and minute hands, all under the mineral crystal in almost perfect condition. The gold crown is unmarked, the case back features the logo and screws in. Model number W151. We still have the original strap in leather with a unique mountain range pattern and measures approximately 7.5” or 19cm. The watch comes without the original box and papers, but a gift box will be provided. It has not been pressure sealed, so water resistance is not guaranteed.

About Tissot

“Innovators by tradition” has been the phrase behind Tissot since the founding of the company in 1853. As proof of that, they’ve been responsible for: first mass-produced pocket watch, first pocket watch with dual time zones, first to make watches from plastic (Idea 2001), rock (RockWatch), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch) and wood.

Also introduced the ‘T-Touch’ technology in 1999, which have touch-sensitive sapphire crystals to control functions.

They now work with a number of organising sporting bodies to develop ever-more accurate timing solutions, whether that’s cycling, motorcycling, fencing or hockey. Notable wearers include Grace Kelly,
James Stewart and Nelson Mandela.
