Our Take

During the 1980s Tissot brought out a number of watches made from a wide variety of different materials, and this Rock Watch is one of them. Minimalist design at its best and something well, a little different! Its quartz movement keeps perfect time as you would expect from a Swiss watch. The granite case measures 30mm in diameter and 34mm from lug to lug, suitable for a lady, do note there is a chip out the underside of the case as the 9 o’clock position. The dial is also made from granite with a speckled look that will be unique to this watch, its clean with the logo in the centre, and some funky red and yellow hour and minute hands, all under the mineral crystal in good condition. The steel crown is unmarked, the case back features the logo and screws in. Model/serial number R150 #909-7. It comes with the original strap in leather and measures approximately 7.5” or 19cm, as you can see one of the strap retainers has split. The watch comes without the original box and papers, but a gift box will be provided. It has not been pressure sealed, so water resistance is not guaranteed.

About Tissot

“Innovators by tradition” has been the phrase behind Tissot since the founding of the company in 1853. As proof of that, they’ve been responsible for: first mass-produced pocket watch, first pocket watch with dual time zones, first to make watches from plastic (Idea 2001), rock (RockWatch), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch) and wood.

Also introduced the ‘T-Touch’ technology in 1999, which have touch-sensitive sapphire crystals to control functions.

They now work with a number of organising sporting bodies to develop ever-more accurate timing solutions, whether that’s cycling, motorcycling, fencing or hockey. Notable wearers include Grace Kelly,
James Stewart and Nelson Mandela.
