Our Take

Rado is a brand that not everyone may know, but for those that do, they love it! Their innovation in design and materials used to come up with some of the worlds most unique watches was unprecedented for the time. This 1980s Voyager is a classic, it’s midsize and originally designed for men but today would easily pass off as a ladies watch, measuring only 32mm in diameter and 35mm from lug to lug. The stainless steel case retains excellent definition with its round smooth bezel, in good condition with only very light surface wear. The steel back pops in and is in good condition, it bears the logo (faded) and model number #636.3362.4 s/n 24121269. The grey dial is in good condition with diamante all the way around and has individual markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9. It has sword-shaped hands with elegant sweep seconds and a date/day window at the 3 o’clock position. The anchor in the centre moves as it should and is all kept under a mineral crystal. The crown is signed with the logo. The watch is powered by a 2836-1 automatic movement with 17 jewels and keeps good time. The strap has been replaced with a black leather bracelet and will fit a wrist of about 7.5” or 19cm approximately. The watch comes without the original box but will be accompanied by a gift box. Water resistance is not guaranteed so please do not use it near water.

About Rado

Started life as Schlup & Co. in 1917, but started selling watches under the Rado brand in the 50s. Best known for the innovative design and use of revolutionary materials such as ceramic, giving the watches a unique look and feel.

The ceramic style was started when they incorporated it with the ‘Integral’ watch, although only in the bracelet, it took a bit longer for the ‘Ceramica’ to come along, which was the first watch to be made entirely with ceramic.

Rado watches are elegant, stylish and subtle, they don’t shout at you like other brands, but certainly, show that you have an appreciation of horology.
