Our Take
As many may know, Rado never started as a watch company but rather only producing movements, that was until the 1950s, the Diastar being one of their greatest innovations using scratch-proof technology. This 1970s Diastar 3 is an example of that innovation, it’s a ladies watch and rather petite so take note of the measurements, its only 26mm in diameter and 28mm from lug to lug. The stainless steel case retains excellent definition with its unique oval shape and smooth tungsten bezel, all in good condition with only very light surface wear. The steel back screws off and is in good condition, it bears the logo and model number #331.682. The champagne dial is in good condition with stick markers all the way around. It has baton-shaped hands with elegant sweep seconds and a date window at the 3 o’clock position. The anchor in the centre moves as it should and is all kept under a mineral crystal. The crown is signed with the logo. The watch is powered by a 105 automatic movement with 17 jewels and keeps good time. The strap has been replaced with a generic steel strap but matches the watch well, it will fit a wrist of about 6” or 15cm approximately. The watch comes without the original box but will be accompanied by a gift box. Water-resistance is not guaranteed so please do not use it near water.
