Our Take

Tissot goes a long way back, all the way to 1853, and the amount of awards they have won over the years is endless, this fact makes it surprising that a Swiss brand can still be so affordable, but it is! This Tissot PRX dates back to the mid-’90s and is one of the more rare models. Its stainless-steel case measures around 35mm in diameter and 40mm from lug to lug, originally designed for men but may suit a lady with today’s fashionably large sizing. The bezel is gold plated and has a rather unique shape and is in good condition. It has a precise Tissot quartz movement, which works as it should and keeps perfect time. The plain gold dial has gold stick markers as well as hands, and the date located at the 3 o’clock position, all encased under a sapphire crystal which has a bit of scratches around the 1 o’clock area. The case back is stainless steel, stamped with the logo and model number P480A and it screws in. The original stainless steel strap with foldaway clasp s/n P480/152S will fit a wrist up to 7.5” or 19cm approximately,. The watch comes without the original box or papers but will have a gift box to accompany it. It has not been pressure sealed, so please do not use it near water.

About Tissot

“Innovators by tradition” has been the phrase behind Tissot since the founding of the company in 1853. As proof of that, they’ve been responsible for: first mass-produced pocket watch, first pocket watch with dual time zones, first to make watches from plastic (Idea 2001), rock (RockWatch), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch) and wood.

Also introduced the ‘T-Touch’ technology in 1999, which have touch-sensitive sapphire crystals to control functions.

They now work with a number of organising sporting bodies to develop ever-more accurate timing solutions, whether that’s cycling, motorcycling, fencing or hockey. Notable wearers include Grace Kelly,
James Stewart and Nelson Mandela.
