Our Take
Simple and elegant, what more can I say. Longines is a brand that has been around for a long time and has featured in many sporting events as an official timekeeper. Unlike today’s watches with all the bells and whistles, there was a time when less was more and that is very clear with this 1950s piece. It has been crafted in a gold plated case with a stainless steel case back, the case measures 22mm in diameter and 26mm from lug to lug, and is in good condition with only light wear. The dial is clean and simple, with roman numeral markers, the logo in the centre, and black baton-shaped hands. The crown bears the original logo. The back case has the original sticker intact and the serial number is 19341311, under the case ticks away a 17 jewels manual wind L.317.4 Longines movement which keeps good time. The crystal is mineral and has some light surface wear. The inner case reference is 5122.1817. The original strap has been replaced with a brown genuine leather bracelet which is new and measures around 6.3” or 16cm approximately. The watch comes without box or papers but will be accompanied by a gift box. There are no guarantees with water resistance, so rather stay away from it.
