Our Take

Today, Tissot is part of the Swatch group, the worlds largest producer and distributor of Swiss watches! This Tissot PR 50 dates back to the early ’90s with its gold plated case and plain cascading bezel measuring around 27mm in diameter and 32mm from lug to lug, on the smaller side but not too petite. It has a Tissot quartz movement, which works as it should and keeps perfect time. The gold dial is clean with diamante markers all the way around and quick set date at the 3 o’clock position all under a mineral crystal. The stainless case back is marked Tissot #J130/230K and simply pops in. The crown is unsigned so may have been replaced at some point. The original strap had to be replaced with a brown leather strap will fit up to a 6.7” or 17cm wrist approximately. The watch comes without original box and papers but will have a gift box to accompany it. It has not been pressure sealed, so please do not use it near water.

About Tissot

“Innovators by tradition” has been the phrase behind Tissot since the founding of the company in 1853. As proof of that, they’ve been responsible for: first mass-produced pocket watch, first pocket watch with dual time zones, first to make watches from plastic (Idea 2001), rock (RockWatch), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch) and wood.

Also introduced the ‘T-Touch’ technology in 1999, which have touch-sensitive sapphire crystals to control functions.

They now work with a number of organising sporting bodies to develop ever-more accurate timing solutions, whether that’s cycling, motorcycling, fencing or hockey. Notable wearers include Grace Kelly,
James Stewart and Nelson Mandela.
