Our Take

Longines is a member of the Swatch Group Ltd, the World’s leading manufacturer of horological products with just under 20 brands under its belt, and over 180 years of experience, its watchmaking expertise reflects a dedication to tradition, elegance and experience. This 90’s Longines has been crafted in a gold plated steel case with a stainless steel case back, the case measures 23mm in diameter and 28mm from lug to lug and does show some discolouration/wear. The steel back looks good, the serial number evident is #28617624 and model number L4.136.2. The white dial is slightly aged, with roman numeral markers and black hands, date window at the 3 o’clock position. The crown may have been replaced at some point with a regular gold crown as its unsigned The precise Longines movement works as it should and keeps perfect time. The crystal is mineral and is in good condition. The original strap had to be replaced, we used a black genuine leather bracelet which is new and measures around 6.5” or 16.5cm approximately. All in all a nice piece and would look great on a smaller wrist! The watch comes without box or papers, but a gift box will accompany it. It has not been pressure sealed, so water resistance cannot be guaranteed.

About Longines

Longines was formed in 1832, in Saint-Imier (also home to Breitling). Their respect for tradition shows in every aspect of their work, perhaps even down to their winged hourglass logo which was registered in 1889 and is the oldest unchanged but active trademark.

Longines epitomises style and sophistication; Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and even Albert Einstein have all worn Longines. It’s no surprise that they have gone on to become one of the best
known brands in watchmaking.

The first in-house movement was created all the way back in 1867, the first chronograph arrived in 1878 and that was the basis for supplying timing equipment to may professional sporting events.
