Our Take

Whether you are a watch collector, an enthusiast, or just looking for a gift for your loved one, you cannot go wrong with a Tissot timepiece. This Tissot Seastar dates back to the mid-’70s with its stainless steel case and plain raised bezel measuring around 31mm in diameter and 35mm from lug to lug, smaller than today’s men’s watches, so potentially good for a lady too. It has Tissot automatic 25 jewels movement, which works as it should and keeps good time. The black dial has been refurbished and is clean with steel markers all the way around, sweep seconds and a quick set date/day at the 3 o’clock position in English/Spanish, all encased under a mineral crystal. The stainless case back is marked Tissot #A550X and pops in. The crown is unsigned and may have been replaced at some point. The original stainless steel strap will fit up to a 7.5” or 19cm wrist approximately and is adjustable. The watch comes without the original box or papers but will have a gift box to accompany it. It has not been pressure sealed, so please do not use it near water.

About Tissot

“Innovators by tradition” has been the phrase behind Tissot since the founding of the company in 1853. As proof of that, they’ve been responsible for: first mass-produced pocket watch, first pocket watch with dual time zones, first to make watches from plastic (Idea 2001), rock (RockWatch), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch) and wood.

Also introduced the ‘T-Touch’ technology in 1999, which have touch-sensitive sapphire crystals to control functions.

They now work with a number of organising sporting bodies to develop ever-more accurate timing solutions, whether that’s cycling, motorcycling, fencing or hockey. Notable wearers include Grace Kelly,
James Stewart and Nelson Mandela.
