Our Take

Tissot goes a long way back, all the way to 1853, and the amount of awards they have won over the years is endless, this fact makes it surprising that a Swiss brand can still be so affordable, but it is! This Tissot Seastar dates back to the 1960s with its stainless-steel case measuring around 20mm in diameter and 24mm from lug to lug, a petite ladies watch. It has a 17 jewels mechanical wind Tissot movement, which works as it should and keeps good time. The dial has aged well and is a lovely champagne colour, it has steel stick markers and silversword-shaped hands with elegant sweet seconds, a plexiglass crystal protects the watch and has some wear to it. The stainless case back is stamped is smooth and screws in and the model number 17520-1 is evident inside the case. The original stainless steel strap was replaced with a brown leather bracelet and will fit a wrist up to a 6.5” or 16.5cm approximately. The watch comes without original box and papers but will have a gift box to accompany it. It has not been pressure sealed, so please do not use it near water.

About Tissot

“Innovators by tradition” has been the phrase behind Tissot since the founding of the company in 1853. As proof of that, they’ve been responsible for: first mass-produced pocket watch, first pocket watch with dual time zones, first to make watches from plastic (Idea 2001), rock (RockWatch), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch) and wood.

Also introduced the ‘T-Touch’ technology in 1999, which have touch-sensitive sapphire crystals to control functions.

They now work with a number of organising sporting bodies to develop ever-more accurate timing solutions, whether that’s cycling, motorcycling, fencing or hockey. Notable wearers include Grace Kelly,
James Stewart and Nelson Mandela.
