Our Take

The 2000 Series range has always been iconic and came in many different designs over the years and is believed to be the bedrock during the transition between Heuer and Tag Heuer and its easy to see why! It’s sturdy and reliable, the timekeeping is perfect as you would expect from Tag Heuer, powered quartz ETA movement. Encased in thick stainless steel and enticing us with its rotating bezel and the well known ‘Click’! The case measures 34mm in diameter and 38mm from lug to lug, so a good size for either a lady or a gent these days. The dial is gold, logo in the centre, there are the usual luminous markers, quickset date at 3 o’clock, and Mercedes’ hands, all under a mineral crystal. The gold crown can screw in/lock and features the logo, but is severely chipped. The case back also has the logo and screws in, the model number is 974.013R and serial #B59926. It features the original strap in steel and gold plating (some wear to plating) with double lock clasp, s/n 305/81 and measures approximately 7” or 17.5cm. The watch comes without the original box and papers, but a gift box will accompany the watch. It has not been pressure sealed, so water resistance is not guaranteed.

About Tag Heuer

Originally known as Heuer, the company was founded in 1860 in St-Imier, the Tag association didn’t come about until 125 years later. Although some of the achievements have been overlooked, Heuer patented the oscillating pinion in 1887, which is still used by watch manufacturers today. Tag Heuer are best known for their sporting lines, such as the Carrera and Monaco, and it’s no surprise to see that wearers have included the likes of Muhammad Ali, Ayrton Senna, Steve McQueen and Tiger Woods.
