Our Take

Since 1832, Longines embraces the elegance and reliability of pure Swiss watchmaking tradition. This ladies mid 90s piece has been crafted in a gold plated and steel classic round case with a stainless steel case back, the case measures 22mm in diameter and 28mm from lug to lug, a rather petite ladies watch. The back has a couple of scratches, perhaps from opening it, the serial number evident is #26680123. The white dial is pristine and has gold Roman numeral markers and gold hands as well as a quickset date at the 3 o’clock position. The gold crown is unsigned. The precise Longines L5.132.3 movement works as it should and keeps perfect time. The crystal is mineral and is in good condition. The original bi-metal stainless steel strap with fold-over clasp measures around 5.8” or 14.5cm approximately. The watch comes without the original box or papers, but a gift box will accompany it. It has not been pressure sealed, so water resistance cannot be guaranteed.

About Longines

Longines was formed in 1832, in Saint-Imier (also home to Breitling). Their respect for tradition shows in every aspect of their work, perhaps even down to their winged hourglass logo which was registered in 1889 and is the oldest unchanged but active trademark.

Longines epitomises style and sophistication; Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and even Albert Einstein have all worn Longines. It’s no surprise that they have gone on to become one of the best
known brands in watchmaking.

The first in-house movement was created all the way back in 1867, the first chronograph arrived in 1878 and that was the basis for supplying timing equipment to may professional sporting events.
